Hard to answer this one with just one type, each had their merits and demerits, take the JU87 as an instance, early in the was when it had virtually no resistance by modern fighter aircraft it wreaked havoc. as soon as it met the likes of Spitfires and Hurricanes it was totally outclassed. the defiant when used as intended in the day fighter role was canon fodder but as a nightfighter it held its own. the Manchester that led to the Lancaster was poor only insofar as its engines were under developed. the Hampden was not too bad but if the pilot was hit the crew had little chance of getting him out of his seat so someone else could take the controls (usually the pilots would give navigators/Flight Engineers rudimentary flight training enough to get the bomber back home if the pilot was incapacitated). the C47, exellent aircraft as it is had no armor and no defensive armarment, which in a warplane is never a good thing. as you can see the answer is very subjective.

all the best.

as Gregers said each aircraft has its ups and downs

but in my opinion i think it was the ME163 Komet. The aircraft would usually kill its pilot and it crash landed, the fuel and materials could have been used to build Me262's which were much more effective than the Komet
