What are your favourite W.W.2. Movies?
I will start off with mine,
1.Kellys Heroes,a great film about a bunch of misfits going behind enemy lines to blagg a bank full of gold...Written by Troy Kennedy Martin, who also done the Italian Job-One plot two movies..
2.The Dirty Dozen, again a movie about a bunch of real misfits being pulled together for a mission.Lee Marvin was always brilliant as a mean nasty mother..He was in the Marines in w.w.2 and recieved the purple heart for being shot..in the ass
3.The Life and Death of Col Blimp,This covers an officer through three wars up to w.w.2.his highs and lows ect, made during the war b.t.w. and in colour.
4.The Battle of Britain, lots of naff airborn shots..But brilliant (modeling) references with the ground vehicles.
5.Murphys War.As i have mentioned before,a great movie about a stubborn Irishman serving onboard a vessel which is sunk by U boat, and his mission is to sink the "bleeding crocodile..."
If you want to know what i mean by that, watch the movie........
Your go,what movies do YOU like???

I'd like to add 'Ice Cold In Alex' to the list!
For those of a slightly morbid persuasion here are a trio of Polish WWII films; 'A Generation', 'Kanal' and 'Ashes & Diamonds' all directed by Andrzej Wajda. These are not really the most cheerful viewing but they do give an insight into what it must have been like to grow up in occupied Poland.
All the best

R.g.r. that Sarge,
That reminds me of another "dark" movie-Cross of Iron, set on the eastern front.Showing the reality of war..
And while we all enjoy a good war movie it is good to remind people that it is not all "romantic" fun...
