Well, the Morris could transport guns- a Kettenkrad found this a task-it could move faster- Kettenkrads had tracks- and Morris's could be used for ambulances, troop carriers etc _________________ Holding my head and breaking down

The thing is, these two vehicles are too hard to compare, because they are totally different types of vehicles!
Bear in mind, the kettenkraftrad was used extensively where it couldbe, but it wasnt used in many places.
It was good for light towing work on airfields, for things like bombs and machine guns, but could only effectively carry about three men into combat.
It was unrelyable, broke down, and tipped over on sharp corners, so imagine having more than 3 men sitting on that, under fire, in a city full of sharp turns!
In africa it was used again for light duties, but nothing really on the front line.
The morris, on the other hand, was used in all theaters of combat involving the british troops, especially in the normandy landings, for heavy towing duties and light troop and cargo transportation.
The morris was reliable and had many uses.
If you ask me these are two totally different types of vehicle, yet both were good at what they did.
sorry for going on, but its a good discussion _________________ We Need more members! Tell your friends! tell anyone!! |

Obivously the Morris c-8 but the Kettenkrad was good, but as was said before sharp corners were a death sentence, it could only carry three men and I have read that they were very unreliable in the field because of the scaled down halftrack suspension.
Cheers, Hawk
Good, but the Kettenkrad can't compare _________________ ATC Cpl at 2340 Blandford Forum SQN |

I'm with Joe on this one, the question is essentially meaningless because the vehicles in question are so dissimilar.....It's like asking which is better; a new puppy or an x-box 360?
For what it's worth & all the best
